My Shooting Master 357 mag. just arrived in Y19 today. A thing of beauty. Love the workmanship on these products. May try for a shoot at the indoor range tomorrow. Anxious to see how these sights will work, with the adjustable brass rear sight.
Took the new Shooting Master to the range Saturday. 100 rounds of various loads at 30 yards. Plinking load (6 grs. Unique, 158 gr. SWC) shot about 6" high with rear sight all the way down. Blade front sight difficult to see, at least for these old eyes. Hotter load (14 grs. H-4227, 158 gr. JHP) resulted in pierced primers, and blowback through firing pin hole. That load not a problem in S&W or Ruger of same caliber. Overall, happy with the fit and finish, not too sure about function at this point, especially the blade front sight. As it is a dovetail in barrel, could be replaced with a flat top and maybe slightly higher. We will see.
In my phone conversation with Gary this afternoon (see post on 32WCF/327Mag) we discussed my problem with the Shooting Master. Gary says not right and will forward a FedEx shipping label to send back to factory. We shall see...
